Meet Your Doula

Hi, I’m Franziska – a birth-focused doula and trained physical therapist.
I support you through pregnancy, birth, and the early postpartum weeks with calm presence, compassion, and hands-on care. I care deeply about helping you feel held, heard, and supported, with clear guidance and gentle reassurance when things feel intense.
Originally from Germany, I now live in Michigan with my husband, two kids, and two dogs. I bring both professional expertise and a warm, grounded presence into my work, creating space for you to slow down, ask questions, and feel supported just as you are.My approach is rooted in experience and guided by steady, informed support. I support families of all kinds and meet each family with openness, respect, and care. ♡I am trained as a physical therapist with a strong background in women’s health and pelvic floor care. I am a certified birth doula through Lifespan Doulas and have supported multiple births through the Dial-A-Doula program at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. I also hold current First Aid and CPR certification.
Together, this experience allows me to offer support that is both informed and deeply compassionate.
My path to becoming a doula began with my own births. During my first birth in 2019, I felt deeply alone. There was no guidance or continuous presence, and I felt overwhelmed and frightened - that feeling stayed with me long after. For my second birth in 2021, I knew I wanted something different. I hired a wonderful doula so I wouldn’t feel that way again. But due to COVID restrictions, only one support person (my husband) was allowed in the hospital, and my doula couldn’t be there.
Even though she couldn’t be there in person, her support by phone meant so much to me. Feeling emotionally held, encouraged, and reminded that I wasn’t alone already made that birth experience more positive and empowering than my first. It deeply moved me and made me realize how powerful continuous, in-person doula support can be.
This is why I do this work today: to offer the kind of presence and reassurance I once needed, so no one has to feel alone during birth.

Why Hire a Birth Doula?

Pregnancy, birth, and the first days with a baby can feel overwhelming - especially when fear, uncertainty, or worries about pain and being left alone come up.A birth doula is a non-medical support person who stays connected with you through this entire journey. During pregnancy, a doula is someone you can turn to with questions, fears, and everything that feels heavy. During birth, a doula remains by your side the whole time - offering calm presence, reassurance, and comfort, so you are not alone when things feel intense. After birth, support continues as you settle into the first days with your baby.Families choose a birth doula because they want to feel held, supported, and less alone - before, during, and after birth.

Testimonials

First-time mom:
"I was very anxious about giving birth and often felt overwhelmed by my own thoughts. From the very beginning, Franziska helped me feel calmer and more focused on myself and my body. During labor, her steady presence and gentle reassurance made it easier for me to stay grounded. I felt supported the entire time and never felt alone."

Second-time mom:
"My second birth was very intense and physical, with a lot of movement. Franziska supported me with positions, guidance, and massage exactly where I needed it, helping ease the pain and allowing me to stay in my strength. She also supported my husband, reminding him to eat, drink, and take short breaks, which helped him a lot. We both felt supported throughout the entire birth."

FAQ

Do I need a doula if I already have a partner or support person?
Yes. I don’t replace your partner, I support both of you. I stay by your side and focus on your comfort and emotional well-being, while also supporting your partner so they feel calmer and more confident. This way, you are supported as a team, and no one feels alone or overwhelmed.
What is the difference between a doula and a midwife or doctor?
I am a non-medical support person. While your medical team focuses on health and safety and may move in and out of the room, I remain with you. My role is to offer continuous presence, reassurance, and comfort throughout labor and birth, especially in moments when you need someone steady right there with you.
I feel anxious about birth - is a doula right for me?
Very often, yes. I support first-time mothers who feel anxious about pain, the unknown, or being left alone during birth, as well as mothers carrying fear from a previous difficult or traumatic birth.
Do you support all types of births?
Yes. I support medicated and unmedicated births, inductions, cesareans, and births that unfold differently than expected. No matter how birth looks, I stay by your side and adapt my support to your needs and your choices.
How do we know if we’re a good fit?
I offer a free, no-pressure consultation. It’s simply a chance for us to talk, for you to share what’s on your mind, and to see how it feels. Feeling safe, understood, and supported is what matters most.
